About iHeard

iHeard aims to build health knowledge in communities and trust in science by sharing timely, accurate health information in a coordinated way through community partners.

Our goals

Each week we send a 3-minute survey to 200 community members asking what health information they have heard in the last 7 days. Topics are updated weekly.

We analyze survey responses immediately to identify current health information priorities in the community, then rapidly respond with accurate information for community partners to use and share.

Our methods

Exposure is the percent of respondents who heard, read, or saw a specific health information claim each week. Exposure = HEARD IT
Hearing information

Believability is the percent of respondents who said that a specific health information claim was “definitely true,” “seems like it could be true,” or were “not sure if it’s true or untrue” the first time they were asked about it.
Reacting to information

Based on exposure and believability, we assign a Priority Level to each claim – High, Moderate, or Mild – to indicate the level of attention recommended in responding to each claim.
Prioritizating information

We ask where respondents heard, read, or saw a health information claim and report the most common sources. Because panel members can select multiple responses, percentages may add to greater than 100%.
Source of Information

iHeard sends a weekly alert to community partners highlighting top findings and priorities, accurate health information, and local resources to support a community-wide response.

In addition, we create ready-to-share media assets that can be distributed by community partners and trusted local messengers.

Our response

iHeard partners with community organizations across sectors: public health, healthcare, social services, education, libraries, neighborhood associations and more. Any organization having direct contact with community members is a potential iHeard partner!
