"Bird flu was found in dead geese in Omaha."
H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu) was confirmed in several dead geese at Heartland of America Park in Omaha, NE on March 18, 2025, following reports of dead birds in the area. While the risk to humans is still low, human infections can be prevented by avoiding direct contact with infected birds, washing hands, and changing shoes after exposure.
